Product Information

Name:
4-Phenoxypyridine
Synonyms:
  • NSC 68195
  • Pyridine, 4-phenoxy-
Description:

4-Phenoxypyridine is a proton pump inhibitor that inhibits gastric acid secretion. It is used to treat ulcers caused by H. pylori infection, for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. 4-Phenoxypyridine has significant cytotoxicity in a variety of cancer cell lines and has been shown to inhibit the growth of human prostate cancer cells with an IC50 value of 0.2 μM. 4-Phenoxypyridine also prevents the proliferation and induces apoptotic cell death in breast cancer cells through depletion of intracellular ATP levels. This drug binds to DNA and inhibits the transcriptional activity of NF-κB, which is a transcription factor involved in regulating genes that are important for cellular growth, differentiation, and survival.
