Product Information
3-Phenylpyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is a chemical compound that is used in organic synthesis. It is an Australian National Chemical Substance and can be synthesized from ammonium thiocyanate and 2-phenylpyrazine. The compound has been shown to act as an amplifier for the phleomycin antibiotic, which binds to DNA and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. 3-Phenylpyrazine-2-carboxylic acid also reacts with mercapto groups on proteins to form dithiocarbamate derivatives, which are used as herbicides.
