5H-Pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidine is an anti-infective agent that blocks the δ receptors and prevents the binding of epidermal growth factor to its receptor. This drug has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of prostate cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner, as well as cervical cancer cells at high doses. It also has antiangiogenic properties by inhibiting VEGF transcription, which is important for tumor growth. 5H-Pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidine inhibits kinase activity and shows selectivity for protein kinases over other enzymes such as proteases or phosphatases. This compound also has a protective effect against autoimmune diseases by inhibiting MMP9 activity.
