2-(Pyrimidin-2-yl)acetamide is a potential cancer therapeutic that inhibits the activity of kinases. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of many different types of kinases, including those which are associated with tumorigenesis. 2-(Pyrimidin-2-yl)acetamide binds to an allosteric site on the ATP binding site in a manner similar to other inhibitors of protein kinases. The inhibition of proliferation and migration by 2-(pyrimidin-2-yl)acetamide may be due to its ability to inhibit phosphorylation events downstream of receptor tyrosine kinase signaling.
