Description:
Pteridin-4-ol is a compound that has been shown to inhibit bacterial enzyme activity by binding to the hydroxyl group of the enzyme. It has been shown to bind to human CYP3A4, a cytochrome P450 enzyme, and block its ability to metabolize drugs. This inhibition leads to an increase in drug levels, which can lead to toxicity. Pteridin-4-ol also inhibits bacterial enzymes such as beta-lactamase and beta-lactamase II.
