Product Information
Pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7(4H)-one is a biologically active compound that has been detected in the urine of humans. It is a potent inhibitor of fatty acid synthase and has been shown to be a potential anticancer agent. Pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7(4H)-one inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids by competitively binding to the enzyme long chain acyl coenzyme A synthetase. This inhibition causes accumulation of malonyl-CoA, which leads to an increase in intracellular levels of malonyl-CoA:acetate ratio and inhibits fatty acid biosynthesis. Pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7(4H)-one also stimulates the activity of congestive heart failure, depression and hyperactivity in mammals by acting as an agonist on the central nervous system.
