Polychlorotrifluoroethylene is a copolymer that has been extensively studied for its chemical stability and thermal properties. Polychlorotrifluoroethylene is resistant to hydrolysis by dehydroascorbic acid, which is an enzyme found in rat liver microsomes. Chemical reactions with hydrogen fluoride are also slow, and the polymer does not show any signs of toxicity. Polychlorotrifluoroethylene has a high melting point and does not react with water vapor or transfer reactions. The polymer has shown no genotoxic activity at high concentrations when tested on human serum erythrocytes.
