2H,2H-Perfluorodecanoic acid is a perfluorinated compound that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and other industrial chemicals. It is also used as an analytical reagent in chromatographic techniques. 2H,2H-Perfluorodecanoic acid has been shown to be toxic to mice when given orally at doses of 100 mg/kg body weight. The toxicity may be due to its structural similarity to other chemical substances that are known to cause liver damage. 2H,2H-Perfluorodecanoic acid is rapidly metabolized by glucuronidation and excreted in urine. The metabolic products have not been identified.
