Product Information
- Piperidine, 4-Phenoxy-
4-Phenoxypiperidine (4PP) is a potent and selective 5-HT7 receptor antagonist. It has been shown to inhibit the release of acetylcholine, dopamine, histamine and serotonin in rat brain synaptosomes. 4PP also blocks the activation of 5-HT7 receptors by various fatty acids and inhibits the binding of various drugs that interact with 5-ht7 receptors. 4PP has been found to be neuroprotective in mouse models of Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and Huntington's disease. 4PP has also been shown to inhibit β-catenin phosphorylation in vitro and block the interaction between β-catenin and H3 receptors in vivo. In addition, it inhibits the activity of protein kinase A and protein kinase C, which have been implicated in neurodegenerative diseases.
