4-(2-(Pyrrolidin-1-yl)ethoxy)aniline is a structural analog of aniline that inhibits the JAK2 kinase. This inhibition prevents the activation of STAT3, which is important for myelopoiesis and platelet production. This compound has been shown to be effective at treating eye disease and fibrosis in animal models. 4-(2-(Pyrrolidin-1-yl)ethoxy)aniline is also a potential chemotherapeutic agent against cancer due to its inhibitory effects on myeloid cells. The pyrrolidine ring of this compound makes it structurally similar to substances that are known to cause birth defects in humans, such as thalidomide and lenalidomide.
