Product Information

Name:
1-Phenethylimidazole
Synonyms:
  • 1-(2-Phenylethyl)-1H-imidazole
Description:

1-Phenethylimidazole is a chloride that can be used as an anticancer agent. It inhibits the growth of bacteria such as Aureus strain and Staphylococcus aureus. 1-Phenethylimidazole has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on dermatophytes, which are fungi that cause infections of the skin, hair, and nails. This compound can also be used as an antibacterial agent. 1-Phenethylimidazole is activated by acylation reactions with fatty acids in the liver microsomes of rats. This activation leads to increased uptake by human colon carcinoma cells, which could be due to its ability to suppress tumor cell proliferation by inhibiting DNA synthesis.
