Description

1-Phenylpyrrolidine is a bicyclic heterocycle that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the growth factor receptor. It functions by inhibiting the activation of phospholipase C and protein kinase C, which are necessary for cellular proliferation. 1-Phenylpyrrolidine has been shown to inhibit the activity of malonic acid, an intermediate in the formation of glycolytic ATP, and thus decreases ATP production. This drug also inhibits parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion in hyperparathyroidism. 1-Phenylpyrrolidine has been used as a pharmaceutical preparation for inflammatory diseases such as asthma and psoriasis. In addition, this drug shows inhibitory effects on lung fibroblasts, possibly through its ability to inhibit protein synthesis.
