Description

Epinastine is a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound that is used in the preparation of epinastine hydrochloride. Epinastine is synthesized by hydrogenating 6-(Phthalimidomethyl)-6,11-dihydro-5H-dibenz[b,e]azepine and selectively removing the cyanogen group. The impurities in the synthetic process are hydrazine and a compound with a methyl group at C7.
