Product Information
- Methyl 9-phenanthrenecarboxylate
9-Phenanthrenecarboxylic acid, methylester (9PC) is a fluorescent and dihedral compound with three distinct hydrolysis products. The 9PC isomer that has the methyl ester group on the right-hand side of the molecule has been shown to have higher efficiency than the other two isomers. The regioselectivity between the two amides in this molecule can also be seen in their relative fluorescence intensities. This product undergoes a variety of reactions, including hydrolysis, homodimerization, or heterodimerization. It undergoes photochemical reactions and is used as a probe for kinetic studies. 9PC's conformation can change depending on its environment, which can be observed through changes in its fluorescence emission spectrum.
