(2S)-1H-Pyrrole-1,2-dicarboxylic acid, 2,3-dihydro-,1-(1,1-dimethylethyl) 2-ethylester is a chiral compound with an optical rotation of +19.8°. It is the product of a cyclopropane reaction and can be synthesized by the Grignard reaction from proline and ethyl bromide. The synthesis of this compound involves the use of an acid ethyl ester as a reactant in order to produce the ethyl ester form. This organic intermediate can be converted to (2S)-1H-pyrrole-1,2-dicarboxylic acid, 2,3-dihydro-,(1R*,2R*)-2-(ethyloxy)-N-(phenylmethyl) ester by reacting it with magnesium in ether solution.
