Product Information
- 2-(Phenylsulfanyl)pyridine
- Pyridine, 2-(Phenylthio)-
2-Phenylthiopyridine is a metal chelate that is used in analytical techniques to measure the activation energy of chemical reactions. It has been shown to have beneficial effects on dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disorders. 2-Phenylthiopyridine can be synthesized by nucleophilic substitution of thiophene with phenylmagnesium bromide. This synthetic process requires hydroxyl group, chloride, and nitrogen atoms as starting materials. The structure of 2-phenylthiopyridine is similar to that of the carcinogen benzopyrene, but it does not bind to DNA or cause cancer in animals. 2-Phenylthiopyridine is a polymerization initiator for polycarbonate plastics and for the production of methylamine from methane monooxygenase.
