Product Information
- Benzoic Acid, 3-(2-Pyrimidinyl)-
- 3-(Pyrimidin-2-yl)benzoic acid
3-Pyrimidin-2-yl-benzoic acid is an organic compound that has a carboxylate group and a pyrimidine ring. The carboxylate group is responsible for the intermolecular interactions that result in the formation of this molecule. 3-Pyrimidin-2-yl-benzoic acid is soluble in water, which may be due to its coulombic interaction with the H 2 O molecules. It also reacts with nitrate ions to form a chelated complex, resulting in a surface analysis of the molecule on the crystal structure. 3-Pyrimidin-2-yl-benzoic acid can be synthesized by reacting benzoic acid with uranyl nitrate and potassium hydroxide. This complex reaction results in yields of up to 90% and a crystal structure that contains interactions between the carboxylic acid groups and metal ions such as copper or zinc.
