Description:
Pyrimidine-4,5,6-triamine sulphate is an antibacterial agent which inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis. It binds to the guanine and chloride groups of the bacterial DNA, preventing the formation of the purine ring in DNA. Pyrimidine-4,5,6-triamine sulphate has been shown to be effective against a wide range of bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The drug's effectiveness is thought to be due to its inhibition of pyrimidine biosynthesis in bacteria. Pyrimidine-4,5,6-triamine sulphate is also used for cancer therapy due to its cytotoxic effect on cells with high levels of amines.
