Piperacillin - EP is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the beta-lactam class of antibiotics. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to penicillin-binding proteins and prevents them from cross-linking with bacterial cell wall synthesis, which leads to cell lysis. Piperacillin - EP also has an inhibitory effect on the activity of certain enzymes in the bacterial cell wall, such as beta-lactamase, which breaks down the antibiotic. Piperacillin - EP is used for the treatment of complicated infections caused by gram-negative organisms, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Providencia rettgeri and Haemophilus influenzae. The drug can be administered intravenously or intraluminally for systemic infections.
Piperacillin - EP is not active against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococ
