Product Information

Name:
1-Phenylmethanamine hydrobromide
Description:

1-Phenylmethanamine hydrobromide is a chiral compound that has a nitro group in the alpha position. It shows high resistance to microbial and chemical degradation and can be used as an antimicrobial agent. 1-Phenylmethanamine hydrobromide has been shown to have antifungal activity against Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger, and Cryptococcus neoformans. It also inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, brucellosis, or leprosy. The nitro group on 1-phenylmethanamine hydrobromide reacts with nucleophiles in the cell membrane or cytoplasmic membrane of microbes to form reactive intermediates that inhibit protein synthesis. This results in cell death by inhibition of bacterial growth.
