Pyrimitate is a nitro compound that has a c1-c4 haloalkyl group. It is used as a pesticide, and inhibits the growth of organisms by interfering with the synthesis of proteins. Pyrimitate is used in pest control by being mixed with other pesticides such as carbon tetrachloride and oxadiazole. This product can be synthesized from an organic substrate molecule called 2-chloroethylnitropyridine, which may be found in fatty acids or gel chromatography.
