Product Information

Name:
2,3,5,6-Pyrazinetetracarboxylic acid
Synonyms:
  • Pyrazine-2,3,5,6-Tetracarboxylic Acid
Description:

2,3,5,6-Pyrazinetetracarboxylic acid is a polycarboxylic acid that is used to synthesize other compounds. It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of human endometrial cancer cells and also inhibits the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. 2,3,5,6-Pyrazinetetracarboxylic acid has also been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in human tissue culture cells by inhibiting the activity of ribosomes. This inhibition may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules or its ability to form intramolecular hydrogen bonds with the molecule itself.
