Product Information
Phenoxymethylpenicillin Potassium EP Impurity D is a β-lactam antibiotic that is produced by the penicillinase reaction of phenoxymethylpenicillin with bacterial β-lactamase. This impurity can be found in the chromatographic fractions of phenoxymethylpenicillin potassium, and it has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth when added to cultures. Phenoxymethylpenicillin Potassium EP Impurity D is not active against gram-negative bacteria, such as E. coli, but does have a high activity against staphylococci.
