Pencillamine is a sulfhydryl that is used to treat Wilson's disease and other conditions. Pencillamine is converted to pencillamine disulphide impurity in the body. It inhibits the uptake of extracellular spermine nonoate by multilobed cells, resulting in death of these cells. The inhibitory effect of pencillamine disulphide impurity on the uptake of extracellular spermine nonoate by multilobed cells has been demonstrated using preincubation with penicillamine, which resulted in a decrease in uptake and death rates.
