Description:

It is used as an intermediate in the production of potassium salts. 2H-Pyran-3,5(4H,6H)-dione has antibacterial and cytotoxic properties. It can be used to produce penicillin and oseltamivir phosphate, which are antibiotics and antiviral agents respectively. 2H-Pyran-3,5(4H,6H)-dione has been found to have anti-fungal properties against fungus Penicillium canescens.
