Palmitoyl Glutamic Acid is an amino acid that is a constituent of the fatty acids found in plants. It is synthesized by the condensation of malonyl-CoA and glutamic acid. The synthesis of palmitoyl glutamic acid is regulated by various factors, including pH, temperature, and amines. Palmitoyl glutamic acid has been shown to inhibit Visceral Pain Syndrome (VPS) in rats. This activity may be due to its ability to influence the production of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP).
