Description:
4-Pentyn-2-ol is a reactive ligand with terminal alkynes. It has been shown to have antitumor properties in vitro and in vivo. 4-Pentyn-2-ol is an allyl alcohol that can undergo nucleophilic attack by an electrophile, such as halogens or sulfonates, to form a substituted allylamine. The reaction proceeds through the intermediacy of an allyl amine followed by elimination of water to form the desired product. This reaction is catalyzed by dehydrogenase enzymes.
