Description:

1H-Pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine-4-carboxylic acid is a carboxylic acid with the chemical formula C8H6N2O4. It is produced by the reaction of potassium ethyl chloroformate and pyridine, followed by heating to refluxing in chloroform. The following compounds are required: malonic acid, piperidine, and azide. 1H-Pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine-4-carboxylic acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria that are resistant to penicillin, ampicillin, and erythromycin. This drug also has a toxic effect on respiratory system cells, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis.
