Description

1H-Pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-5-carboxylic acid is a potent inhibitor of human tumor cell lines and xenografts. It has been shown to have minimal side effects in vivo. It inhibits the proliferation of tumor cells by interfering with the synthesis of nucleic acids, specifically RNA and DNA. 1H-Pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-5-carboxylic acid binds to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) which is essential for the production of cellular energy and prevents the formation of ATP. The molecule also inhibits ribose metabolism through its inhibitory effect on NAD+.
