- Quinazoline, hexafluoro-
Perfluoroquinazoline is a fluorine-containing chemical compound. It has the formula CHFNO, where the fluorine atoms are attached to the benzene ring by a single bond and form a continuous chain of alternating single and double bonds around it. Perfluoroquinazoline is an inert monomer that can be polymerized with other perfluorinated monomers to form polymers. The functional groups on perfluoroquinazoline are nucleophilic in nature and can attack sulfurous, arene, acidic, or photoelectron compounds (e.g., sulfur dioxide, hydrocarbons). Fluorine chemists use this property to synthesize perfluorinated substances such as surfactants and refrigerants. Irradiation of perfluoroquinazoline produces free radicals that can act as nucleophiles in organic reactions.
Perfluoroquinazoline is used as a high-energy electron emitter in electron microscopy studies of thin sections
