Product Information

Name:
Pentaerythritol tetrakis(2-bromoisobutyrate)
Description:

Pentaerythritol tetrakis(2-bromoisobutyrate) (PETBIB) is a matrix polymer that has been synthesized by the copolymerization of pentaerythritol, 2-bromoisobutyric acid and sodium tetraborate. This material is composed of reactive monomers that are hydrophobic in nature. PETBIB has a high affinity for small molecules, such as water and organic solvents. It is also a highly reactive compound that can be used to study the kinetics and morphology of polymerization. The atomic force microscopy was used to determine the morphology of PETBIB and found it to be amorphous with a polydispersity index of 1.3.
