1,3-Propanediol bis(4-aminobenzoate) is a chemical compound that is used as an intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals. It is also used as a solvent, plasticizer, and in the production of polyols and polyurethanes. 1,3-Propanediol bis(4-aminobenzoate) can undergo a number of reactions to form other compounds. The reaction product from the addition of ethoxyresorufin o-deethylase to 1,3-propanediol bis (4-aminobenzoate) results in the formation of 4-(ethoxycarbonylamino)-benzophenone. This reaction is used as an assay for ethoxyresorufin o-deethylase activity. 1,3-Propanediol bis(4-aminobenzoate) has been shown to be carcinogenic when tested on skin tumor cells in tissue culture and on animals.
