1-Phenyl-4,5-dichloro-6-pyridazine is a chlorinating agent that can be used to produce a number of compounds. It reacts with carbonyl compounds to form chlorocarbonyls and is used in the production of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and other organic compounds. 1-Phenyl-4,5-dichloro-6-pyridazine is an intermediate in the production of thionyl chloride by chlorinating hydrocarbons or by reaction with sulphur dioxide gas. It also has a number of uses in organic synthesis. 1-Phenyl-4,5-dichloro-6-pyridazine is a reactive molecule that is able to form many covalent bonds with nucleophiles such as water and alcohols. The nature of these reactions are determined by the nucleophile's ability to react with chloride ions (Cl).
