Description:

Phosphoramide mustard is a cytotoxic agent that inhibits transcription and protein synthesis. It binds to the penicillin-binding protein in bacterial cells and forms covalent linkages with the DNA, preventing RNA polymerase from transcribing DNA into mRNA. This inhibition leads to cell death by lysis. The phosphoramide mustard is a potent antimicrobial agent that is effective against a wide range of bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Staphylococcus aureus. Phosphoramide mustard also has significant cytotoxicity against mammalian cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of proteins vital for cell division.
