1-Pyrrolidinemethanamine is a potent antibacterial agent that belongs to the class of antimicrobial agents. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in animals and humans by steric interactions with the ribose hydroxyl group. 1-Pyrrolidinemethanamine has also been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory properties, as well as potent antitumor activity and receptor binding. This drug has been shown to be effective against multidrug resistant bacteria such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 1-Pyrrolidinemethanamine binds to the bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
