Description

D-Phenylalanine methyl ester hydrochloride is a salt of D-phenylalanine and hydrochloric acid. It has shown to be a potent inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase enzyme, which regulates cellular signaling. D-Phenylalanine methyl ester hydrochloride also has been shown to have high cytotoxicity against tumor cells and is able to inhibit the reuptake of l-phenylalanine, which can lead to an increase in dopamine levels. This drug binds to the active site of the enzyme and inhibits its activity. The binding leads to a conformational change in the protein that prevents it from catalyzing reactions that are essential for the survival of cells.
