5-Phenylhydantoin is a low-energy molecule that binds to the 5-ht7 receptor, which is a subtype of serotonin receptor. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on locomotor activity in mice and can be used to treat diabetic neuropathy. 5-Phenylhydantoin also interacts with sodium citrate, which is a molecule that regulates the pH of animal cells. The liquid chromatography method was used to determine the concentration of 5-phenylhydantoin in human liver tissue. This drug is active against human macrophages and can induce tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) secretion from these cells. A monoclonal antibody was used to detect the presence of 5-phenylhydantoin in biological samples such as urine or serum.
