Product Information
- 2-(4-Benzyloxyphenyl)acetaldehyde4-Benzyloxyphenylacetaldehyde4-Phenylmethoxyphenylacetaldehyde
4-(Phenylmethoxy)benzeneacetaldehyde is a phenolic compound that is metabolized to 4-hydroxybenzeneacetic acid in the body. It has been found to have estrogenic and anti-glaucoma activity, but its mechanism of action is not well understood. 4-(Phenylmethoxy)benzeneacetaldehyde binds to the oestrogen receptor with high affinity and exhibits a weak binding affinity for the progesterone receptor. The compound also has a low binding affinity for the estrogen receptor beta (ERβ). These findings are consistent with an agonist effect on ERα and ERβ, as well as a partial agonist effect on ERβ. The compound has been found to inhibit the expression of two proinflammatory cytokines in vitro: IL-8 and TNF-α. This may be due to its ability to bind to these receptors.
