Description

1-(Phenylmethyl)-2-imidazolidinone is a biomolecule that has been shown to have a catalytic effect on the synthesis of β-unsaturated aldehydes and imidazolines in the presence of an organocatalyst. The reaction is catalysed by an enzyme, which is activated by adenyl cyclase. 1-(Phenylmethyl)-2-imidazolidinone also has the ability to alkylate α,β-unsaturated ketones with nucleophilic aldehydes. This compound may be used as a potential treatment for obesity, due to its effects on lipid metabolism.
