Description:
4-[(Pyridin-4-yl)methyl]-2H-phthalazin-1-one is an aldehyde compound that is used as a chemical intermediate. It has been shown to be an effective adjuvant for the production of hydrazine, which is used in the synthesis of a variety of pesticides. 4-[(Pyridin-4-yl)methyl]-2H-phthalazin-1-one also reacts with hydrazine to produce pyridine and basic compounds, such as ammonia and azide. The acid treatment of this compound produces pyridine and hydrazine.
