- 4-(Pyridin-2-Yl)Pyrimidin-2-Amine
- 2-Amino-4-(2-Pyridinyl)-Pyrimidine
4-(2-Pyridinyl)-2-pyrimidinamine is a ligand and fluorescence probe that is used in microscopy studies to detect reactive molecules such as aldehydes. It has been shown to react with polydentate acceptors, such as fluorescent proteins and DNA oligonucleotides, by emitting light at wavelengths of 480 nm. 4-(2-Pyridinyl)-2-pyrimidinamine also reacts with irradiation in the presence of oxygen, which causes the molecule to emit light at wavelengths of 540 nm. The fluorescence reaction time for this compound can be controlled by changing the reaction temperature or by adding an acylating agent. This type of molecule has been shown to have myelogenous properties and is able to permeate cell membranes.
