Description

Poly(allylamine hydrochloride) is a polymer that is made up of alternating units of two different monomers. The first monomer is allyl amine, which has a strong antimicrobial effect. The second monomer is hydrochloric acid, which provides the salt for the polymer and also helps to improve its solubility in water. Poly(allylamine hydrochloride) can be synthesized from sodium metal chelate and intramolecular hydrogen, both of which are inexpensive and easy to obtain. This polymer has been shown to have biological properties that make it a potential drug candidate against human serum and mouse tumor cells. It also has been shown to have surface methodology as well as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy properties that make it suitable for wastewater treatment applications.
