Description:
1-Phenyl-1-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid is a drug that has been shown to be effective in treating cancer, nervous system diseases, and metabolic disorders. It inhibits the sodium-dependent glucose transporter and suppresses amyloidosis of the liver. 1-Phenyl-1-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid also inhibits the synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines, such as nitric oxide (NO) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα), which are important mediators of inflammatory diseases. This drug has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity in vitro, leading to increased levels of acetylcholine in the brain. The carbonyl group on this compound is responsible for its ability to bind metal ions and form complexes with them.
