3,5-Pyrazoledicarboxylic acid is a hydrogen-bonding molecule with a pyrazole ring and an intramolecular hydrogen bond. It has a chemical stability that can be increased by the presence of other molecules. 3,5-Pyrazoledicarboxylic acid has been shown to react through the following mechanism:
The reaction starts with protonation at the nitrogen atom of the pyrazole ring. The protonated pyrazole then reacts with oxygen to form a hydroxyl group and water. This process continues until all of the pyrazole rings have reacted with oxygen and formed water.
