Description

S-n-Propyl thioacetate is a chemical compound that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against a variety of microorganisms. It binds reversibly to the silicon surface, forming stable complexes with diallyl trisulfide and other electron acceptors. This binding results in a profile of interactions between the functional groups on the polymer surface and the S-n-propyl thioacetate molecules. The second order rate constant for this reaction can be determined using chemiluminescence detection. S-n-Propyl thioacetate is effective against resistant microorganisms such as Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus epidermidis.
