Product Information

Name:
2-Pentylthiophene
Synonyms:
  • 1-(2-Thienyl)pentane
  • 2-n-Pentylthiophene
  • Thiophene, 2-pentyl-
  • 2-n-Amylthiophene
Description:

2-Pentylthiophene is a chemical with a chromatographic profile that can be used to identify and quantify viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites. It can also be used in tissue culture. 2-Pentylthiophene has been shown to reduce the infection rate of Caproic acid (CA) in mice infected with infectious diseases. Treatment of CA-infected mice with 2-pentylthiophene was able to inhibit the growth of CA in the liver by increasing its elimination through metabolism. This chemical can also be used for biological treatment. 2-Pentylthiophene has been shown to have an optimal reaction when oxidized to isovaleric acid at a redox potential of -0.8 V vs Ag/AgCl. The analytical method for this compound is gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GCMS).
