Description:
Pentylmethyl sulphide is a volatile organic compound with a low boiling point. It has been used to study the interaction of alkanoic acids and disulfides with light emission. The reaction of pentylmethyl sulphide with peroxide generates hydrogen peroxide, which can be used for desulfurization reactions. Pentylmethyl sulphide may also function as a bidentate ligand in coordination chemistry. Pentylmethyl sulphide has the chemical formula CHSCH3 and is composed of a ring structure that contains two carbon atoms, three hydrogen atoms, and one sulfur atom.
