Description:

6-Phenyl-morpholin-3-one is a heterocyclic compound that is used as an absorption inhibitor. It binds to the active site of the enzyme cholesterol esterase, which is responsible for the hydrolysis of cholesterol ester from cell membranes. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to less free cholesterol in cells, which can result in lower cholesterol levels and reduced risk for cardiovascular disease. 6-Phenyl-morpholin-3-one has been shown to interact with a number of other enzymes such as β-lactamases and dihydropyridine nucleotide transhydrogenase. This interaction inhibits diastereoselective β-lactam synthesis by blocking the binding site on the chiral center of the substrate molecule. 6-Phenyl-morpholin 3 one also blocks pyrazoline formation, which is important in synthesizing heterocyclic rings, and can be used as a surrogate for heterocyclic compounds
