Pazinaclone is a drug that binds to the benzodiazepine site on the GABAA receptor and has antihypertensive activity. The drug is an enantiomer of clonazepam and has been shown to be effective for the treatment of symptoms of anxiety and panic disorders. Pazinaclone is administered orally or parenterally as a racemate, with its effects lasting from 4 to 6 hours. It has been shown to have a pharmacological dosage range of 1-2 mg/kg. Pazinaclone is not toxic at doses up to 10,000 mg/kg in animal studies. Toxicity studies have found no evidence that pazinaclone causes micronuclei in mice at doses up to 2000 mg/kg, which corresponds to more than 100 times the human therapeutic dose.
