Description:

PhenyltriMethylsilane is a reagent that can be used in the synthesis of organic compounds. It is a tri-methylsilane with a phenyl group attached to one of its methyl groups. PhenyltriMethylsilane can be used as a magnetic resonance spectroscopy probe, as it has an internal hydroxyl group and uv absorption bands at 330 nm and 240 nm respectively. This compound also has an aryl halide, which allows for deuterium isotope effects to occur. PhenyltriMethylsilane reacts with water vapor to form acylation reaction products, which can be detected by nmr spectra.
